VISA Reiterates the Rules on Naming Descriptors

As most you know, a naming descriptor is what is reported with the transaction information to the cardholders bank and reported on the cardholders statements to assist them in recognizing their purchase.

The rules state that it is NEVER acceptable to use a product name or phone number in the descriptor fields. The descriptor field must only list the legal entity or DBA name.

We have confirmed that our processing platform has the separate fields necessary to list your Customer Service phone number that is AUTOMATICALLY included in the transaction information to the cardholder's bank.
